Botox injections are shots that use a toxin to prevent a muscle from moving for a limited time. Botox (Botulinum toxin) is a toxin obtained from Clostridium botulinum.Botox blocks nerve signals to muscles. As a result, injected muscles can’t contract (tense up). These effects are always temporary, but can last for several months. The Botox procedure has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. As a rule, the bacteria toxins used for medical purposes are not harmful if used correctly.

Botox can be applied to all healthy person between the age of 18-65, except for pregnant and nursing women. Usually the effect lasts 6 to 8 months. The lifespan of the Botox application can be extended through repeated shots. Botox injections primarily reduce the appearance of facial wrinkles. Botox injections are also used to treat conditions such as neck spasms (cervical dystonia), excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Botox injections can also help prevent chronic migraines.

Facial botox

These shots are often used to smooth wrinkles on the face. Botox applied to mimic muscles weakens the muscles and prevents the skin from folding and wrinkling. With facial botox; tired, unhappy and angry facial expressions change, and you get a rejuvenated, vigorous and wrinkle-free facial expression. Wrinkles caused by excessive use of facial expressions, genetic factors or ageing can be removed in a very short time.

When can I see the result?

Botox injections usually begin working 4-5 days after treatment, though it can take 14 days or more to see full results. For example, full results can be obtained in 4-5 days for wrinkles between the eyebrows or crow’s feet, while thes period may be longer in areas containing deeper wrinkles and lines.

 

What you should not do before Botox application

 
  • From excessive caffeine consumption
  • Before the procedure, you should avoid the use of painkillers that thin the blood
 

What to consider after botox?

 

Touching or Massaging the Injection Sites: Avoid touching, rubbing or massaging the areas where Botox is injected. This can cause the toxin to spread to unwanted areas and affect muscle function.

  • Strenuous Exercise and sport: Avoid strenuous physical activities, heavy lifting or intense exercise for at least 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
  • Lying or Bending Over: Avoid lying flat for several hours or bending over 1 Day after treatment. This can help prevent Botox from spreading to areas not intended to be active.
  • Alcohol Consumption: It is recommended to avoid alcohol for at least 24 hours after Botox treatment. Alcohol can increase blood flow to the face and potentially affect the distribution of the toxin.
  • Saunas and Hot baths: Avoid saunas, hot tubs and hot showers for the first day or two after the  treatment. Excessive heat can potentially cause the toxin to spread.
  • Blood Thinning Medicines: If you are taking blood-thinning medications, discuss with your healthcare provider if you need to temporarily stop or adjust your medication before and after the  treatment.
  • Sleeping Position: Sleep with your head elevated the night after treatment to prevent Botox from spreading to unwanted areas.
  • Facial Treatments: Avoid facial, chemical peels, or other facial treatments for at least a few days after Botox treatment.
  • Supplements and Herbs: Some supplements and herbs can increase the risk of bruising.
